Software For Other Technologies
Linux-Based Software
One type of program that is used for Linux-based functions is the Xen program. This is an open source (free) virtual machine monitor, which is a type of system used on large servers. Large companies such as I.B.M. are known for using this type of software.
Xen is also compatible at least in part by Unix-like programs, as well as unchanged versions of Microsoft Word (but this article is not about Windows applications). This is one alternative application that is gaining more popularity.
In fact, all Linux-based software is become more public, and receiving more attention. The main reason why is because it is right now an open source project that can be used by anyone. Versions of Linux are either offered for free or for a low cost.
Certain types of backup software are used especially for Linux, and some are for both Linux and Unix Users. This is another alternative to the standard Windows recovery systems that most people use today.
Mac-Based Software
One of the most useful of Mac-based software is QuickDraw. It is a graphics system that was the first to present the W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. (HTML editor) technology to a larger audience. QuickDraw uses quartz technology, which enables it to be used with even more current Mac operating systems, such as Mac OS X 10.14.
The QuickTime media player is also a Mac technology. It plays iTunes as well as certain MPEG 4 files. It functions in a similar way as MP3 players. Mac also owns Color Sync, which is a method of matching screen color with printer ink, in order that the prints would come out as they are viewed on the computer monitor.
Mac also has a browser system similar to Windows Explorer. Mac’s file browsing system is called the Finder. Mac also owns an application called PlainTalk, which is a program capable of recognizing speech.
Media Software
Media software is created for all different types of operating systems. Either that or various devices that are run by media software are altered in order to be compatible with alternative operating systems (other than Windows).
QuickTime has already been mentioned above. This particular player can be installed on regular Windows machines as well as on Mac machines.
